AGE CATEGORIES
Below are the relevant age categories we apply to competition in the TSSL. These age categories are applied to both male and female. Your age on the 31 Dec in the year of competition is used in the allocation to a category. There is a minimum requirement of 5 finishers in both the race and the Super League to validate a category (male and/or female).

Minimum of 5
There must be a minimum of 5 runners for a category to be recognised, either by race or in the TSSL. This includes every category, if there are not enough to form a category then that category will fall away. The only exception to this rule relates to the genders of the junior categories, which will become mixed if there are not enough boys or girls to form their own category. For example if there are 6 junior boys and only 1 junior girl, there will be one Junior mixed category and if the girl runs third in the junior race, she will be on podium. If there are 5 junior boys and 5 junior girls, they will form their own two categories. The combining of categories will only apply to the junior (junior, minimee and peewee) categories, where the boys and girls will become a mixed category. No other categories will be combined if there are not enough runners.
A few other rules...
-
Any runner found to be falsifying information to gain a competitive advantage (for example lying about age) will be disqualified.
-
Age categories are determined by your date of birth - your age on 31 December of the current year. This is to ensure that you do not change categories during the year or end up running in a younger category. I.e. if you will be turning 11 during the year, you will be in the minimee category, turning 15 during the year you will be in the junior category etc.
-
All the junior category entries (<18yrs) will be subject to the indemnity being signed by a parent or guardian.
